Home care in Schmargendorf — in a quiet residential quarter

Schmargendorf lies between Wilmersdorf and Grunewald — geographically and socially. It is not quite as prominent as Grunewald, but comfortable. The flats are often pre-war, some from the 1890s, some from the 1920s. Long-established Berlin families live here, often in the same buildings for two or three generations.

We have looked after clients in Schmargendorf for years — the quarter is one of the areas we work in most.

What is typical of Schmargendorf

Family roots:
Many flats have been in the same family for generations. Care here is often also about preserving a family’s way of living.
Less public than Grunewald:
Unlike Grunewald, the residents here tend to be business owners, mid-sized-company families and senior professionals — not in the public eye, but comfortably off and clear about what they want.
Medium-sized flats:
Three- and four-room flats are typical, rather than the very large family properties of the Westend or Grunewald.

What makes care in Schmargendorf work

Reliability without display:
Our clients here want no performance and no special arrangements — they want dependable, good care from people who respect their history.
By the hour rather than all-in:
Compared with Grunewald, round-the-clock arrangements are less common in Schmargendorf. Daytime companionship, overnight care and targeted hourly visits are more usual.
Care advice with a sense of proportion:
Families often want to know how to get the most out of a care level (Pflegegrad), what respite care (Verhinderungspflege) can do, and how the coming years can be planned for.

Frequently asked questions

  • Can you come for just three or four hours in the afternoon?
Yes — in fact that is often exactly what people here want. An afternoon from two until six for a walk, coffee and conversation is a typical arrangement.
  • What does overnight care cost?
The hourly rate depends on the qualification required and on whether the night is worked actively (awake throughout) or on call. Night and Sunday supplements under § 3b of the Income Tax Act are included. You will get a firm figure for the shift you have in mind at the first meeting.
  • We want someone who stays with my father long term and does not keep changing. Is that possible?
That is precisely our model. We work with small settled teams of two to four people who take turns. The client is not faced with a new face every day.
